Some Sunday afternoons call for a walk to the woods.
All by myself.
This was even before I’d had my cup of coffee to go with Sunday dinner! Once a couple of the sweet people who live here had fallen asleep for naps . . . I escaped outside.
Grabbing an old coat and grungy boots, I did manage to remember my camera.
It has been raining here recently and the woods had some treasures for me!
While these pictures are beautiful, the quiet is what settles deep into your soul.
There was no washing machine running, no kids wrestling all over the living room, no tea kettle whistling . . . not even my phone beeped at me. It was peaceful.
There were even a few flowers still out there.
Fall is truly a special time of year.
Before I know it, snow will be weighing down these branches. Remind me to get some pictures then, because snow completely transforms the landscape.
Derek is the one who has used this blind the most this year! When the house has become chaotic, I have threatened to follow him out there while he’s hunting.
He didn’t jump for joy at the idea.
Uh oh. They found me.
We live in gorgeous country.
I love this land we call home!

The pictures were a peaceful kind of “feast”……the brilliant moss, delicate mullein, colorful mushrooms, and even the close-up of your grungy boots with the pine needles showing under your feet. The wonder of creation is everywhere for the aware!
