Yesterday was three weeks since I began my eight-week journey to a healthier me. So I’m probably past due for an update!
Confessions
Let me begin with the confessions.
I haven’t been able to meet all my goals – all the time. But I’m still trying! I’ve been drinking more water, which makes me feel better – especially in this heat. I’ve also been counting my calories pretty closely for three weeks, with a few days that didn’t get logged. But that’s okay with me.
And the exercise thing hasn’t gotten done four days a week either. I’ve probably averaged more like three days a week. But there’s always next week to do better . . .
And truthfully, I haven’t been able to accomplish the “no eating after supper” rule. I don’t like to stuff myself for supper at 5:30 – I don’t think that’s a good habit to get into either. And since we are eating so early, plus I’m still nursing a 13-month-old, some nights I am truly hungry by bedtime. Usually I still have a couple hundred calories left in my allotment anyway, and I use those up.
Now for the last confession. Remember that 30-minute-per-day thing by myself, it has happened about 5 times in the last 3 weeks. But I’m going to revise that one, too! Hey, I’m the one who made this game, so I can change the rules as I go, right?!
Progress
Now for the good part!
I am happy to report a weight loss of 4 pounds. For me, while I’m nursing (and not starving myself) that’s good! So we’ll keep at it and see what happens in the next few weeks.
My dry skin is not too bad right now, except after days I’m in the garden or kitchen for hours putting up produce. No bleeding fingers. Unless you count the time I tried chopping off the end of my one finger, but only got part of the fingernail.
The biggest benefit I’ve noticed is that I feel more alert, focused, and in better spirits on the days I pedal my bike really hard for 15 minutes up and down these hills. And I find I like that feeling! Lowell said that was the way it would be, and I knew he would be right – but I just hadn’t found the right exercise to make me exert myself like that yet.
I used to bike alot back before Derek was born 13 years ago, and then he and I became biking buddies for the first year of his life – until Terrel came along. And I’m remembering now why I loved it so much! Still, it takes determination and perseverance to make myself get on that bike 3-4 mornings a week. But so worth it!
For those of you who are with me, how are you doing?

It sounds like you are doing great ! And four pounds is quite a lot. I think the slower we go with healthy changes, the more likely they are to become permanent. Good luck on the next three weeks !

I am so glad to hear you are finding progress! I’m sorry that THM didn’t work for you, I love it. I have lost 30 pounds, but feel like I’m at a plateau right now so it helps to hear what others do and the successes! Blessings to you my friend as you keep going on this journey!

That’s awesome, Rachelle! I didn’t know you were trying it. I’ve got some friends who love the program and have done exceptionally well on it. Guess folks are different!
