This is on our “about us” page, but I wanted to also share it as a blog post. Especially considering some people didn’t start on the blog from the beginning with us.

Behind the Shoe
Who are we?
That is a good question. When we have the answer to that, we’ll let you know!
There are days when we’ve been taken over by outlandish pirates with their homemade swords or giant spiders who leave their webs of string all along the staircase.
But on the days we are sane . . . we are a family of seven, soon to be eight. And we live way up a mountain road only 20 minutes from the Canadian border in North Idaho.
The Meadow in Spring is breath-taking!
This is the Shoe that most days is filled with lots of love and laughter.
And other days there is squabbling and tears.
Lowell is the head of the Shoe and he escapes most every day to go run his postal mail route way over on the other side of the valley. It’s a miracle, really, to see him leave the house and go to work. In 2008, he was in a traumatic motorcycle accident that left him in severe pain for several years. The economy took a dive about then, what construction work he could do was sporadic, and money got tight. But God saw us through, and hopefully we’ve come out stronger because of it!
I am a stay-at-home mom. Don’t you just love how people tout that little phrase? In some circles, it’s a pretty revered thing . . . while in others you are looked at cross-eyed. For us, it’s just a matter of fact, but something I love doing! My rewards come in tender loving from my man and soft kisses from my children.
Oh yeah . . . sometimes I buy myself caramel lattes and chocolate too.
We have five children with another one coming in July, Lord willing!
Derek, age 11
Terrel, age 9
Megan, age 8
Logan, age 6
Wyatt, age 3
Baby #6, arriving July 9 (hopefully sooner, says Mama)
And four sweet angel babies waiting for us over at Heaven’s gates!
Are we born-again Christians? With all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is number one in our home and our hearts. What He says, we will do . . . where He sends, we will go.
Our church is nestled in the Kootenai Valley of North Idaho and is an independent Mennonite church. We love and support our church. We feel it is based on the Word of God, and not man’s dictations. The church works together as a whole extremely well, considering there are around 250 of us who attend.
So there you have in a nutshell a little of our lives.
May God bless you richly!

I was so moved by your video of the accident. Could you please tell me about the music that is playing during it? The songs are amazing! Thank you and god bless!
Living in the Shoe says
Tina, the first song is “Praise You In The Storm” by Casting Crowns. And I believe the second song is “I Will Lift My Eyes” by Michael W. Smith. I loved both of those songs and they seemed to go with the pictures!
