On Christmas Eve we received the first real snow of the season! And a few days after that, God showered us with even more. We were all delighted!
The children and I took to working on our winter pallet igloo Sunday afternoon since we saw the weather forecast was going to be in the negatives the next few nights. Who wants to be out when it’s that frigid? Not me.
One of our favorite winter activities is pulling two sleds behind the four-wheeler across the fields of snow. Daddy started out driving.
He usually tries to dump us all off of our sleds.
Yep. The sleds were as full as they look!
Dallas and Mommy braving the blowing snow to have some fun!
Rats. Lowell dumped me before I’d had a chance to get the hang of it.
Just you wait, hun. I’m getting better at getting even . . .
Seriously. This is so much fun!
And . . . he couldn’t dump us! We had figured out how to hang on.
Some celebration going on there.
Scum.
I don’t know if I ever moved out of my vice-scum position for the entire game. But at least it was close to the popcorn bowl . . . and Lowell. 🙂
These are nicknames that have gotten attached to them by the rest of us:
Bulldozer and Monkey
In case you’ve not guessed by now, orneriness oozes from every pore.
Not sure I’d try to lick that, boys!
Clown.
Dictionary.
Little Tyke.
Curly Top.
We drank LOTS of hot chocolate. Homemade. The kind that takes me back to sitting at the counter in my mama’s kitchen at 6 years old, with blonde ringlets hanging down my back. The smell of this homemade hot chocolate transports me back in time more than thirty years. And, yes, I will promise to share the recipe with you soon! We made it for a couple church functions that we were in charge of this Christmas season . . . and it was a big hit – especially with the kids.
But seriously, who can resist homemade hot chocolate with fluffy marshmallows floating on top when it’s cold outside, warm inside, and snow is on the ground? It would have to be someone with more self-control than me.
A gorgeous way to start my day!
Dallas is now 18 months old and rather behind his fellow baby friends in the walking department. He can walk about 6-7 steps and then topples over. This is something all of our children have been slower in accomplishing – his big sister was even later than he was in walking.
But we got him this Little Tykes slide for Christmas in hopes to help him with his climbing and walking skills. He has loved it! However, we much-too-often have to shoo his siblings off of it – they obviously didn’t read the weight limit on the thing.
Mom, I’m looking for your gum. Have you seen it lately?
Not one ounce of “sorry” on his face.
Hard at work on their Matchbox Rockets down in the basement.
Here is one closer up for you.
Then we all got to watch the firing-off of them!
Looks like we caught one, boys.
Is this the one that stole my gum?
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1,2

I love seeing the love in your family and the happiness. Our children are all grown and gone and oh my how I miss the days that you are now living in. Psalm 121:1,2 was my Mother’s favorite verse. She often quoted it to me. Mine is Isaiah 40:31/
Blessings,
Betsy

The snow is beautiful and so is your family. They will remember all the fun they had with Mom and Dad.I think our time is one of the most important things we can give our children. Hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation.
Blessings to you and your family,
Linda
