School needs to start.
Let me say it a different way. In order for Mom to keep her sanity, she desperately needs school to begin. Now.
The end of summer is almost always this way – the kids have so much fun in June and July, but everything starts to look boring in August. We’ve been trying to keep them busy with canning and garden work, but it truly is time for everyone to have a schedule and activities to keep their growing minds occupied.
Just yesterday, I couldn’t handle the crazy amount of energy displaying itself out in my living room in the form of wrestling any longer. Not one more minute of it. So out the door they were banished to run around the house five times.
Sometimes I’m mean that way.
I will have to hand it to the kids, though. Boredom is sometimes good for inspiring new excitement in old toys! They dug out the Legos and dominoes and have had them spread out all over my living room and kitchen. Besides that, we babysat a big, old dog for several days that loved to lay in the middle of my kitchen – especially in front of the refrigerator.
God has definitely been working on my patience.
So why does it feel like I have received a D-?
The kids put together many domino towers and I promised to share two videos of them on the blog. Just in case your kids are having the “summer doldrums”, too!
So here you go.

I love to read your blog. It reminds me of myself when my children were young. Now….I would do anything to have that chaos around once again. Loved the videos. All of that work gone in 7 seconds!
Blessings,
Betsy

Yes, I know I will miss the chaos once it is gone!

Wow that was cool kids! I was never smart enough to figure out how to set up that kind of dominos! Maybe you’ll have to teach me next time I see you. 🙂

When you get bombarded . . . I’ll remind you that you asked for it. 🙂

Oh boy, do I ever remember those days, so true that by the end of the summer, everyone is ready to get back on a schedule. I think of the four seasons of the year… the dear Lord knew that every few months we needed a change, and so welcome it is! I look forward to each season and change of the year, the Lord has given them to us to keep life from ever becoming a bore! Isn’t the cooler weather great! We are so happy about the coolness and the rain… 🙂
Your kids and their dominoes are pretty amazing! Please tell them I am very impressed with their patience and creativity! And the old dog in the kitchen… ya, I’ve got one of those… well a dog in the kitchen who is not old, but who loves to catch any falling scraps. She is always getting shooed out… but ya… I understand! Have fun Kendra… there is joy to find in the moment, and I think your patience score is a bit higher than D-… lol!

Oh thanks!! Some days it feels like I get a pretty low score. 😉
