We woke up this morning to a wonderful surprise right outside our windows! An entire herd of elk were moving past our house and through the fields to the woods north of us.
It was beautiful, the birds were chirping, green grass peeking through . . . it felt deliciously like spring.
Grabbing the camera, I hustled outside in my fuzzy pink bathrobe to shoot a few pictures. That wasn’t quite good enough, so I slipped on Lowell’s humongous man-sized shoes and tromped out beside the barn to get some video footage.
It probably looked funny . . . a Mennonite lady with hair going every direction, tromping about her barn in the wee hours of the morning while wearing oversized shoes and a flourescent pink bathrobe. Some folks might consider that a mental disorder.
But give me and my pink bathrobe some credit. We still had breakfast on the table EARLY, lunches packed and kids sitting down by 6:50. Thankfully, nobody decided to continue the stomach flu at the breakfast table that we’ve been suffering for the past few days.
Boy, what a rabbit trail . . . here is the video if you want to look. And a few pictures below. I’m sorry, but, no . . . you do not get a picture of my pink bathrobe.

I love the sound of the birds! I imagine there were some men in your house just itching to shoot one of those elk.

Nobody was out with their guns! 🙂 What is amazing is how those elk simply know when it is NOT hunting season – not a single one was scared!
