So the kids talked me into their pool the other day. It may be the only day they will be able to do that this summer. It had finally reached the “hot” degree of somewhere over 80 and the kids were swimming in our little 30″ pool. Derek had been in the pool for a while, but the others had gotten rather cold and so had jumped out to watch.
Now those of you who don’t know our second son, Terrel, he is what we call vertically challenged. In other words, he is a little on the short side, but certainly makes up for it in strength and heart. I guess you could also say he is horizontally challenged since I have done my best to fatten the kid up a bit to no avail. He is the always the first one to get cold when swimming since he has virtually no extra fat on his body anywhere!
As I walked outside to the pool, Terrel stood there shivering and shaking all over, and trying to tell me the water was warm. I wasn’t convinced.
But he obviously thought I wouldn’t have the problem he did because he “too honestly” said, “Mom, you won’t be cold because you’ve got enough body!”
Ah, the forthrightness of children can be hilarious…..just so long as he doesn’t go saying that to the neighbor, the bishop, or the grocery store clerk.
