I used to only listen with half an ear when I’d hear people say this concerning their family: “Oh, but the next stage is so much fun!”
They are right. The next stage is fun!
We live 2,000 miles from either side of our family, so in a sense, it has made us stronger as a family. In fact, sometimes it feels like we now have our own little club. With Lowell being chairman and me his awesome sidekick!
Our little Graber club recently did a skit for our church campout in June titled “Family Values”. It is the radio drama show from Adventures in Odyssey and I will tell you this: we loved it! Whether or not anybody else got anything out of it is another story, but our little family immensely enjoyed laughing together.
And here is our little club on our Family Night in the Park. It started with skateboards and softball – then a game where the kids and I all ganged up on Lowell in a game of basketball. He won.
But he’d better look out next time!
The we ended up with a delicious pizza in town where we managed to spill only one glass of water. So maybe we are getting somewhere after all . . . .

Just found your blog and enjoying a trip back through the archives. Especially enjoyed your post on the head covering – since I’m a Brethren girl who married a Mennonite! Thanks for your bold stand. I know how hard it can be to step out and share your beliefs. I recently wrote a series on modesty. I never was so scared to hit “publish.” Keep up the great work!

I love finding other girls who married into the Mennonites! Someone had shown me the link to your modesty series and I must say you did excellent. 🙂 I’m sure the Lord will bless you for it! I truly didn’t know to be scared about this since I tried to make it as a matter-of-fact post. However, I was deeply saddened by the emails and feedback I received from ex-Mennonites. Seems to me that maybe our denominations have failed somewhere along the way.
Many blessings and keep writing!
