The last month has been like Christmas for me! After requesting more seed catalogs this winter than any previous years, the seeds finally started arriving in the mail. Plus, Lowell is making plans on how to heat the greenhouse, beginning sometime in March.
Flower and Vegetable Seed Companies I Considered
(click on titles to visit websites)
This one is geared more for the Northwest. It also has a garden planner on it, which I enjoyed immensely!
This company is split two different ways. They have a section for home gardeners and also commercial growers.
Berlin Seeds
This company is located in Amish country and has no website (that I could find). You can order a catalog by calling this number: 1-877-464-0892
Where I Ordered From
Harris Seeds
I used Harris Seeds because they had the kind of petunia, geranium, and zinnia seeds in the quantities I wanted. With having a greenhouse this year, I am hoping to start almost all of my flowers and this company hit the spot with their huge selection.
They have four catalogs you can request for free:
- Ornamental Growers’ Seed & Plant Catalog
- Vegetable & Cut Flower Growers’ Catalog
- Ornamental Growers’ Plug & Liner Catalog
- Home Garden Catalog
Digital versions are also available. Clicking any title above will take you to the request form.
My flowers seeds from Harris:
- Petunia Double Glorious Mix
- Alyssum Clear Crystal, white
- Geranium Maverick Mix
- Zinnia Benarys Giant Mix
- Marigold Antigua Primrose
- Osteospermum Akila Mix
- Petunia Easy Wave Flag Mix
Territorial Seed Company
I chose to purchase my vegetable seeds from here because they are formulated more for the northwest – where temperatures tend to be a little cooler in the summer. In previous years, I used Berlin Seed and especially recommend their Monty’s Plant Food. This was an excellent and fun way to fertilize anything and everything in my path! I would simply mix up the fertilizer in sprayer and spray all the plants in the gardens, the strawberries and raspberries, and all flowers, vines, and bushes. Sometimes I’d even spray it on the grass in my way – it was so cheap and lasted a long time.
However, the last couple years, I had trouble with my Jade green beans coming up well and decided to switch companies this year to see if that helps. I am sold on Jade green beans! They grow so green, straight, long, and with few strings in them.
My herb and vegetable seeds from Territorial:
- Jade II Bush Beans
- Belstar Broccoli
- Derby Day Cabbage
- Romance Carrots
- Pepinex Cucumbers
- Maestro Peas
- Matina Sweet Lettuce
- Golden Star Peppers
- California Wonder Peppers
- Long Island Mammoth Dill
- Sweet Basil
- Cherry Belle Radishes
- Marino Coriander
- Bobcat Tomatoes
- Brandywine Tomatoes
- Cherry Buzz Tomatoes
- Renegade Spinach
- Mascara Lettuce
