I do strange things at strange times. Such as laying in bed thinking about the Golden Years. Years when winter nights aren’t filled with barfing children, raging fevers, whopper earaches and countless trips from one bed to another.
That pretty much describes my past week. Children with aches and pains in so many places we lost count. Snotty noses and hacking coughs. Spiking fevers that caused my littles to mumble in their sleep. Mommy was kept running between baths, buckets, medicines, backrubs and onion ear drops.
I don’t know about you moms, but I personally find it hard to laugh much when I’m physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausted.
But God knew I needed to laugh today.
And it came at naptime.
We had been to the doctor this morning to find out that my children have strep and one has a double ear infection. I was feeling pretty discouraged because it seems like we get strep quite a bit around here. To top it off, we also heard some very disheartening news about a family in church this morning. And my spirit was heavy.
But when I went to put all the sickies to bed this afternoon, I got a real surprise. As our four-year-old, Logan, bent over to climb onto his bed, my mouth fell open at the sight of little Lightning McQueen shorties peeking out at me through a rip in his pants. And this wasn’t a small hole. It was a rip of probably four inches gaping open! It looked very big at the moment.
However, when the children informed me that “Yes, he wore them that way to the doctor’s office”, that rip began to look embarrassingly larger yet. How could I not have noticed that my four-year-old was walking around in public with his underwear hanging out?!
I must be more tired than I thought. But at least it gave me the laugh I needed.
Some days you must grab your moments of laughter anywhere and everywhere you can to get you through!

I hope you have a good evening and tomorrow is better and brighter. Hugs and prayers. I pray you will feel the presence of God and His arms holding you tight.

I found these onion ear drops on the internet. Cook a slice of onion, mash it, and put a few drops of the juice into the ear. Supposed to help with pain. However, it didn’t take her ear infection away.

I’ve done that with garlic; it does help releive the pain. Hope your week (and your children) get better!

Sis, have you tried silver in their ears? My one friend had a rip, roarin’ ear infection. So bad that her face was swelling and her pain was intense. When she put silver in her ear it was so bad that the silver couldn’t get through. She had to put it in her ear twice and on the 2nd time it got through. That was in the afternoon and by night she was feeling good enough to laugh =) I thought that was a pretty amazing testimony!!! Also my kiddo had a bad ear infection (almost rupturing) earlier this year …uh, wait, make that LAST year, lol… he was prescribed antibiotics but Mom dropped silver into his ear and made him lay still so the silver could soak in for about 20 minutes. She did that a couple of times a day and when I got home I continued the treatments. When we took him back to the doctor he was almost completely back to normal and had only taken like one or two doses of the antibiotics. I would deff say it’s worth a try! If you are needing some Silver my Mom is a dealer and I think her price is very fair….lots better then at the health food store! I thought of you yesterday and missed ya at Church. Sorry you all are having it so rough. Hebrews 4:16 is a great verse. Know a song based on that verse that you might wanna hear sometime =) Love ya sis! Hang in there. God is watching you raise His little ones and I bet His heart is warmed with what a good Mommy you are. ~ Janet
