Before we tackled the kitchen, we first tried our hand at helping the boys room upstairs. We have three boys in this little room, so space is very limited. You could tell by the walls that many a party had been thrown in there!
This is before we began the project to give their room a facelift.
And these pictures are after:
I sponged halfway up the walls with a red paint. The nicks, dents, and scratches were so bad that I had to sponge quite heavily. Probably should’ve painted the entire wall, but I didn’t want it all red. I still wanted some blue on them.
It took a while for the boys to get used to it. They said it felt like a cave in there!
We used to have a longer curtain for their window. But it got pulled down so many times that the curtain rod began to bend in the middle. So we decided a short valance was just the ticket for three boys!!
With space being so limited, I began to look for ways to save floor space. So we bought a toy hammock where they now throw their stuffed animals. I love it! Wish I had gotten one 10 years ago.
To personalize the room a bit, we had a friend from church make these vinyl wall letters. Each of the children have one with their name.
The toy hammock also came with a toy chain that you can clip animals onto. All of our children have loved playing with toy animals! Some of them have become so ragged and filthy, I’ve pitched them in the nearest trash bin when nobody’s looking!
We already had one blue twin comforter, but we bought two more to complement. Not exactly the same color of blue – but hey, it works!!
And with three boys growing right before my eyes, they at last outgrew their laundry basket! It had overflowed so many times that some items had even landed in the dress-up box . . . only to be found again weeks later. It was definitely time to move up in the world of laundry hampers! And this time we got them a really BIG one. Maybe it will last for another six years . . .
