I was notified by Carolyn from Gift of Simplicity, that my blog had been awarded the Liebster Award. Now if you’re like me, you might be thinking we got the spelling wrong and I really won the Lobster Award!
However, it appears the Liebster Award is one that is given out to a small blog – one with less than 200 followers.
Here is a quote from Carolyn’s blog:
“Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome.”
In order to accept this, you must pass it on to 5 other small blogs and also tell 5 random things about yourself.
Now I had a hard time choosing 5 blogs to pass this on to. So I’ve decided it will be ones that are written by or originated from our local church folks.
But I ran into a problem since one of those is written by a young man and that description above does not seem, uh “manly”. So I’ve added a few words: “thought-provoking, humorous, and masculine”.
5 Blogs:
Evan Schlabach – We’ll start with the masculine one first. I appreciate not only his sense of humor, but also the deepness of mind this young man has. I think you’ll like reading what he has to say, too!
Living in a Glass House – This dear lady has been to Guatemala and back and you can read all about it on her blog. Her lessons in life challenge me! When I grow up, I’d like to be like this lady.
Follower of the Star – I love this girl! I am privileged to teach her Sunday School class and the way her mind works is something I can connect with. She has such a heart for God and it spills over into her writing.
Letters From Far Away – This newly-married young woman has had many experiences which define her. She has been on the mission field in Chile and has a desire to serve our Lord wholeheartedly. Her writings will bless you, as well as make you laugh!
West Woods – I was privileged to work with this sweet lady for a few months this past winter. And she has challenged me in so many ways! Her blog is one that shares her life as a mom and wife. And I know you’ll agree with me that she has one of the best hearts around!
Sharon’s Country Store – This is our local bulk food store, run by one of our own church families. And they were even so kind as to let me work there a few days when Lowell’s work was slow this winter. I got to see the inner-workings of this family and their business, and I had so much fun doing it! Right now she is doing a giveaway on her blog for local folks – so be sure to sign up.
Now that I’ve awarded the blogs, I suppose I will have to tell you five random things about myself. This may not be pretty, so take heart in the fact that if you choose to leave, I will never know!
1. I woke up with stinky breath this morning. (I told you this wasn’t pretty)
2. My sweet husband was the one who informed me of it.
If you’re starting to get heated towards my man, just cool down. It gave me the laugh I needed this morning. While snuggling on the couch, I noticed a rather somber look and asked him what he was thinking. “That you needed to brush your teeth.” You will have to admit that I asked for that one!
3. I’m terrified of heights.
And I was recently taken straight up a mountainside in a little orange jeep. I still have not recovered. Once I have, I may tell you the story.
4. Sometimes I feed my children eggs for breakfast…..and then I have cookies with my coffee.
Bad, bad woman.
5. We’ve had God directly answer a prayer in our lives within the last month.
And sometimes I still weep tears of gratefulness.
