The summer is slipping by so fast and before it is gone . . . you must meet Tigger.
Tigger is the newest addition to the family and has become a fast favorite – especially with Wyatt, who calls it “the Beep”.
Through circumstances completely outside of our own doing, God placed the opportunity for a job with a postal route in Lowell’s lap. At first, we didn’t consider it seriously since the job he currently had was one he enjoyed and had just learned well. He especially loved working with the church men there and didn’t want to leave them during their busy season. However, since the information about the job came through his bosses, we thought maybe we’d better do some more serious researching before deciding.
In the end, we felt this was what God had for us at the time and have since then felt confirmation that it was indeed of His doing. So Lowell’s black Titan pickup got sold (pretty much before it was advertised) and Tigger joined the family instead.
So Lowell is now a mailman with a postal route of around 125 miles round-trip and over 300 mailboxes. He’s responsible for it six days a week, but has a sub who is able to help him out a little. She’s a wonderful older lady who has been training him for the past month. It was also her who nicknamed our little right-handed Jeep. She said it is orange and bouncy, so it should be called Tigger. And we all agreed.
Tigger has taken us places I’m pretty sure the Lord never meant for anything with four wheels to go. In fact, one such place was straight up a mountainside.
My husband will argue that it wasn’t straight up, but from my point of view it looked too close to vertical to not be called vertical. If it wasn’t straight up, it was almost … straight up.
I will have to say one really nice thing about Jeeps. They left a little prayer bar on the passengers side for people like me. When I see a straight up mountainside coming at me, I hang onto that little prayer bar, shut my eyes as tight as they will go, and start praying.
Halfway up that there almost-vertical mountainside, Tigger’s operator (i.e. my daring and adventurous husband) looked over and saw me praying at my prayer bar. I think he realized then how real my fear of heights was.
Tigger has been much nicer since then as he now realizes that I am much better at adapting if something is introduced slowly. He is getting me used to 45 degree mountainsides before he takes me back up the 80 degree ones.
So now you know when we mention Tigger in later posts….that this is Tigger:
