One word can describe a mountain lake. Cold.
But since there are many other words that also describe these lakes – like “gorgeous, serene, deep, peaceful, and breathtaking” – we continue to visit them and jump into them occasionally.
We went to our favorite spot this past week for a quick swim before supper one evening.
We love going to this little rock on this little lake up the mountain. It is great for our big kids since they love diving into the deep water. The little ones are learning it’s not so bad either!
I was having fun with my camera! ‘Course, it sure helps to have good people in front of the camera . . .
Personally, I really love this country! Even if parts of it are cold . . .
Swimming Modestly
I am going to add a small bit here on how our family has chosen to swim. When we swim, we usually do so as a family only. Mixed swimming and immodest apparel hold dangers and we wish to minimize these dangers for our children – we know we can’t eradicate them entirely, but we sure can take steps to reduce them. You will see a few pictures that show the boys with swimming trunks on. Sometimes, depending where we are, we ask them to wear a t-shirt with the trunks.
As for Megan and I, we have found that wearing a skort and t-shirt (along with something underneath) suits us both for motility and modesty. A skort is a skirt with shorts attached underneath. It allows you to still move freely and still not show too much skin.
I didn’t even think of a skort until a friend mentioned it – now we love it! Amazon has a few I will show you, but we honestly got ours from Goodwill and had one given to us. (click on the picture to see the detail page on Amazon)
If some of you have found other modest apparel that works for you, I would love to hear it! Like I said, I didn’t even think of these until a friend mentioned it – so suggestions are good.
Happy swimming!
