This is it, folks. This post contains pictures from our way home back to Idaho.
The Way Home
We started our Friday evening and drove all through that night. Continuing on the next day, we stopped in Central Montana the next night at a motel. This gave us about 10 hours home the next day.
Found some silly goobers in our motel closet.
Oh yeah. They belong to us!
What is one thing missing from this little trip that the Shoe made? That’s right – a good barf story.
Hang on. We’ve got one for ya!
I took the children all down to the motel pool once we arrived there and let them swim for about an hour so Lowell could take a nap. He was extremely tired from having driven 24 hours. The pool was very chlorinated and I don’t know if that is what prompted the rest of this story or not.
But . . .
About an hour after everyone was in bed, I heard Logan moaning and crying. Going over to him, I asked if he was okay. He mumbled something incoherent and I asked if he was sick because the moaning was not getting any quieter. He said no, so I went back to bed.
However, his noise level kept rising and I had a gut feeling. A bad gut feeling. So standing him to his feet, I started aiming him toward the bathroom where I could look at him in the light. However, Daddy was awake by then and tried to talk to Logan and figure out what was wrong.
Logan was crying by now, although very groggily, and I turned him around towards the restroom. Just when we reached Wyatt, who was sleeping outside the bathroom door, I heard a gagging sound as Logan began to throw up. Quickly, I hauled him backwards so that the barf would not fall directly on Wyatt! Wyatt slept through the whole thing, never knowing how close he came to getting a smelly shower in the middle of his dream.
To this day, we aren’t sure what caused his bout of vomiting and diarrhea, because after one hour he was fine and nobody else came down with it!
*By the way, the picture is completely a reenactment. 🙂
A beautiful ranch somewhere in Montana!
Mr. Fat Squishy eating chips with his pinky finger in the air.
Looks like High Tea on wheels!
We were getting close to home and everyone was getting silly and rambunctious!
This is the Clark Fork River on Highway 200 in Northwestern Montana. Beautiful!
Quote From the Road:
Only 30 minutes from home 4 yo Wyatt asks: “Where are we going? Are we going home?”
Daddy replies: “Yes, we’re going home.”
In a wobbly voice that was on the brink of tears, Wyatt says: “Ok. But this might take a while.”
Like I said . . . rambunctious.
And as Daddy says “That’s the sign we’ve been looking for all along!”
There’s nothing like home. Amen and amen.
