The title says it all.
Summer is right around the corner, school is almost over and life is picking up at a steady pace. Thus, I will be telling you all a semi-goodbye! This blog will be mostly updates and pictures over the summer months. We have so many plans to enjoy this summer that writing on serious topics is not going to be at the top of my priority list.
The kids had dress-up day yesterday and some of them finish up their schooling next week. I am SO ready to have my kids home again!
This is the best Mother’s Day present ever!! Lowell got this for me and put it up this week. Sometimes I want to stand a few feet back, gaze at this beautiful thing, and pinch myself that I truly have a greenhouse!
It has now become another “happy place” of mine. I might become so “happy” that I forget I have a husband and kids to feed. Guarantee you someone will find me in my little playhouse and drag me inside when suppertime hits.
One of our plans this summer includes family coming to visit. We have several families coming in June – so that month will be busy, but fun.
Another project the kids and I are hoping to do is make this summer one where we all participate in our “Study the Bible” program. For the younger ones, we are simply going to become familiar with the non-familiar Bible stories – the ones that don’t just appear in your normal Bible storybooks. We have great hopes to make an actual model of the Valley of Elah where David fought Goliath, plus a bunch of Bible baseball so we can uncover treasures we never knew before. For the older kids, I plan to teach them how to use e-Sword and do a study on the seven churches in Revelations – maybe even printing up an essay on them at the end of summer.
Beyond that, we wanted to find a way to walk to the bakery across the woods for their ice cream cones. But since ticks are already bad this spring, I’m rethinking that one. Might have to settle for going fishing instead.
The swimming pool will be set up soon and put to good use. My lawn chair will be calling me, along with a glass of Pioneer Woman’s Iced Coffee. Friday nights are reserved for hot dog roasts, so if you are a neighbor close to us and see the smoke curling upward from our place – just know there is a marshmallow with your name on it here.
Gardens will need planted, weeded and harvested. A trip to the nursery for flowers is in my near future. And we have plans to take our little family to the Oregon coast!!
Before all that, Lord willing, we will be getting Silent Grief into print soon – along with some pretty big plans around it. I’d appreciate your prayers in this.
So, yes, summer is looking full — but oh so wonderful.
Please forgive me if we’re quiet here. We still think of you often, but I only have one summer of 2015 – and I plan to enjoy every minute!
Have an awesome summer, folks.
