Be patient with me. There are 32 pictures in this post! So if you want to take a break at picture #16 and go out for pizza, you are welcome to do that.
So like we mentioned in Megan’s column yesterday, we were able to visit the Ark Encounter in Kentucky on our eastern trip. This was built by Answers in Genesis (Ken Ham) and if you have never been there, you will be amazed at it all! The magnitude of the ark itself is astounding. You can find more information here on their website.
To begin, you take a shuttle from the parking lot all the way out to the ark. This was fun even for Mom – let alone the kids. We are country bumpkins and don’t get enough shuttle rides . . .
The Ark.
Our crew.
You enter from the backside of the ark and at ground level.
Then you begin your walk up the ramps to the next deck.
Some of these cages had recordings of animal sounds coming from them. I found their watering and feeding system interesting!
This was depicting Noah’s family before they entered the ark. It was Dallas’ first encounter with wax figures that moved. He stood very still and I wasn’t sure if he was scared or simply intrigued! I tried to explain to him they were not alive . . .
But when I asked him to turn around so I could take his picture . . . this is the face he gave me!!! It was my favorite picture of the day.
There were beautiful, colorful signs everywhere explaining so many things about the Flood, Noah’s family, the animals and the ark itself.
These cool dudes kept stalking me from deck to deck . . .
Yes, we even fed the cow. And I lived through it! (in case you are wondering . . . I was not made to be a farmer’s wife)
I love this picture.
All safely inside the ark. The salvation that it represents and the cross that it points to!
Lowell and I both thought they did an excellent job at presenting the Gospel throughout the tour of the ark. You could not read everything, observe it all, and come away without excuse.
He was still trying to take in those wax figures . . .
Lunch break at Emzara’s Kitchen!
Their living quarters intrigued me. Somebody’s imagination was really good! And they had signs telling of how they used artistic license – after all, Scripture does not tell us how every single thing took place or was prepared on the ark.
This was their indoor garden! I really wonder if they had this – because had I been on the ark, this would have been my little corner.
They did such a good job explaining what happened to the earth as the fountains of the deep broke up. I didn’t even get to read it all but still enjoyed it immensely!
Just like Noah’s family was saved by the ark,
so we have a Savior today – Jesus Christ.
Thank You, God, for Your Son.

Thank you so much for this tour! This is somewhere I’ve wanted to go since I heard about it, and don’t know if I’ll ever make it. Your photos and story make me feel almost as if I were there. And the expressions on your family’s faces are priceless. Thank you so much for sharing with us. Blessings, Betsy

Roy and I went this summer also and spent 5 hours there and did read most of the things. It was amazing to me all the thought that went into also and as we sat outside and took it all in Roy said to me “if I were asked as Noah was to take on a task such as this and trust God-would I?” Something to think about!
Enjoyed your pictures! I think I would like to go go back and take the kids and grandkids now because it’s amazing.

What a good question – one I should ask myself! Sometimes it seems the little things trip us up faster than the bigger ones . . .

I’m interested in what time of day you were there? I’ve heard it can be really full and difficult to move around but your pics don’t show that.

We were told that Mondays are their slowest day, so that is the day we chose. To us, it was still full enough – but there was still room to move around. It probably felt more full to us because we had a really big crew to move all over the place! We got there about 11:00.

Thank You for the pictures, they are enticing. My family and I ,were in Indiana and The Creation Museum three years ago, The Ark was not ready yet. We will like to comeback to that area Is so beautiful ! Maybe some day. We were there on a Monday morning around 10:00, by one o’clock the place was very busy.
I’m glad for the Gospel, and pray that many who will visit come to the knowledge of Christ!
Keep the good work Kendra!

I hope you get to visit the Ark one day – you would enjoy it!
