Summer is beginning.
And we are so happy here.
This flowerbed is tilled up and waiting for me and my shovel. Petunias will go here this afternoon.
Looks like somebody took a backwards dive off the porch . . . Nobody is missing any body parts around here, so they must have come through unscathed!
All my flowerpots are planted. I’m pretty sure I had more fun than is legal to have while planting flowers! It was a gorgeous, sunny day of about 70 degrees, the birds were chirping, the kids were playing with their new kitten . . . and I was getting dirty.
Now that’s fun.
The garden here at the house is all planted and waiting for rain. I have one more garden to plant at our neighbor’s place (who doesn’t wish to use all of his garden) and then we will be in business!
We’ve planted beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, zucchini, cabbages, peas, peppers, brussel sprouts, and 20 broccoli plants. Yep, we like broccoli!
Now all we need to plant is a whole patch of corn, a row of beans, and a few more cucumber plants.
Anybody ever use a tomato cage like this one?
It is a wide-base cage and I’m thinking I will like it. This is my first time to use it and I didn’t stake them since they seemed much sturdier than the other flimsy kind. I’ll let you know how I like them this summer.
The strawberry patch that is full of weeds. This is honestly how it looks right now . . . it’s on my list to weed this week.
And we have six tomato plants planted inside my little greenhouse!
The flowers were purchased in town and are waiting to be planted this afternoon.
Kiddos even have their own flowerpot on their little picnic table in the backyard.
In the orchard . . . we have miniature pears forming.
Our huge cherry tree that is decades old. I think it’s beautiful!
Green cherries hang from it already.
This is one of my favorite places to walk – especially when the sun is beating down. The orchard holds such promise, calm and coolness!
God made all things beautiful!
Amen.

Kendra, thanks for the pics of spring flowers. We currently live in Grenada and I tend to forget about some of these simple pleasures. It has been over 4 yrs since I smelled lilacs and witnessed spring, so thanks for allowing me to experience a taste of spring through you. You have a lovely family and have been an encouragement to me in many areas of life. Keep up the good work.
