I’d like to meet the person who coined the phrase “the lazy days of summer.”
I really think what they should have said was “the crazy days of summer!”
Probably like most of you, we are busy, busy, busy. And life doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. The gardens are growing beautifully, some day I plan to post some pics of the gardens. They are more than food to me – they are a de-stressing hobby and I love it!
We have picked our first tomato and I aim to eat him for supper with some salt and pepper to grace his yummy juiciness! He’s not as pretty as the tomatoes back east, but I grew him, fed him, watered him, and fattened him up all by myself. Now I’m gonna eat him!

Lowell and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary yesterday!
After the breakfast rush, I thought of how I should make an anniversary post to the love of my life . . . but time is fast fleeting right now. So I’ve pulled out a few older marriage posts for you:
The Day I Realized I Had Not Married My Father
10 Things They Didn’t Tell Me On My Wedding Day
and {more here}
I love you, hon.
You have stood by me, caused me to grow,
and loved me when I felt unlovely!
Thank you.

If you have been reading the last few posts, you probably read the one about my eight week journey to being healthier. I will confess here and now that the thirty-minute-a-day-by-myself thing has fallen sadly by the wayside. But I aim to keep trying!
Anyway, I thought you might enjoy this article from Modern Alternative Mama that I read recently.
Modern Alternative Mama on Postpartum Weight Loss
A lot of people assume that if you can’t lose weight after your babies are born that you’re lazy, or you’re gorging on junk food because you’re too busy with baby or you’ve “let yourself go.” They believe if you would just go on a strict diet, or just exercise more, or just care about what you look like, that you would be able to lose the weight.
This is endlessly frustrating to the mamas like me, who didn’t change a thing and couldn’t lose the weight — or even gained weight. Human bodies are not machines. They do not work the same all the time.

With all the garden produce starting to come off, I found this delicious-looking recipe from Taste of Home. And I can’t wait to try it out!

Some pictures for you!
We had a special family come to visit!
And the girls even picked some beautiful wildflowers for us along the river!
I had figured to put up a post about picking and canning our sweet cherries. Well, we got them picked and then discovered they were full of worms – once we’d already begun to can them. I was not amused.
But we still had fun picking them! The kids and I would pick until we were so very hot – then we’d go jump in the pool. Twenty minutes later, we started picking again. Dripping wet. It really was fun! Plus we found a way to pick and keep cool at the same time.
Life is hard around here.

After ingesting enough sand from the sandbox, Mr. Fat Squishy got his own personal pool!
He loved it! Being outside, he could splash as hard as he wanted to – whereas in the bathtub he gets his patties smacked. You can tell he was living it up!

Oh, Kendra! It was SO GOOD to see you! (And I should sent you a photo of the boys’ room: it is a haven of improvised fly tying. Now they want to go fishing with Derek to try them out!)

Oh, he would love that! Right now he is waiting on some fishing line to come that he ordered from China. (through Amazon) He thinks it’s taking forever! But at least the mailman is really popular right now. 😉

Not many lazy summer days here, either!

Ha! Enjoyed the update-sorry about the wormy cherries!

Yeah, it was a bummer. Oh well! We’ll keep spraying and hopefully next year or so it will be better.
