Can you all believe it is almost fall? Tomorrow marks the beginning and already we have a nip in the air. I don’t believe we’ve had a frost at our place yet, but it has gotten pretty close.
The children have been in school a little over two weeks now and seem to be settling into a routine. Lowell and Derek have been hunting quite often in the woods behind our place. So far all the bucks have escaped relatively unscathed! Lowell took off for a couple days to head into the mountains last weekend with a buddy and would love to go back again. I would love to see a freezer full of steaks and sweet bologna!
The gardens are almost over with. Tomatoes have done so well this year that we have canned 53 quarts of marinara sauce! That is truly incredible when I spent many years with only green tomatoes by the first of September. The past two summers have been extra hot and the tomatoes have loved it. I also think it has helped to give them a good trim in August to help with the sun ripening the tomatoes faster.
Whatever it is, we have sure enjoyed it!
With how busy August and September have been, I haven’t done very good with taking pictures. I hope to rectify that in October!
But here are some pictures that show this little crew for the past few weeks…..

My Wife’s Plea to Christian Men
This summer I began a journal of Bible verses that have come to mean so much to me. I call it My Promise Book. And when I feel like Satan’s coming at me, or the day is sliding downhill quickly – but I don’t have time to sit down for devotions . . . I can open my promise book and take one verse with me.
It has helped to keep my focus where it needs to be – where God is answering my plea to direct my every thought, word, and action.
These two passages are treasures to me:
Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him.
Psalm 16:8,9
I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Fall is creeping up on me too . . and we go off hunting for firewood and exploring hiking trails before the snow sets in . . And my 14-year-old son gets wonky-brained over cute girls . . and Bible study seems more and more important every day . . .
Kendra says
Amen on the Bible study! I might be watching my son closer on the wonky-brained part….

I know fall is here, but the tomatoes on the vines are still going strong and I am very grateful. Your children are beautiful.

Thank you!!

I read the article on Praying Circles. At first I thought it was an approach to small group prayer, like Bible Studies, but apparently it involves drawing a circle around around what you want to pray for and expecting God to grant it? Please correct me if I am wrong, however this sounds like superstition at best and paganism at worst and a Christian author is supporting this? Not judging, just confused.
Kendra says
Yes, it is scary and certainly not biblical.
