Apple Pie Filling (Canned)

Servings 6 quarts

Ingredients

  • 10 cups water
  • 1 cup regular Clear Jell thickener
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 28 cups apples peeled, chopped

Instructions

  1. Mix together all ingredients, except apples, in large pot.  Bring to a boil.

  2. Fill jars with peeled, chopped apples.

  3. Pour syrup over apples in the jars.  Allow time for the syrup to fill all cracks between the apples.

  4. Wipe off rims of jars and top with lids and rings.  Can in waterbath canner for 20 minutes.

Recipe Notes

Clear Jell is a thickener that can be found in most bulk food stores or on Amazon.  Be sure to get the regular (cooking) type, not the instant Clear Jell.
