Our little crew has not picked blueberries for a couple weeks due to going to the coast. But we went several times and I will have to say that it is one of my favorite jobs!
I love being in the berry patch.
That’s all there is to it.
Does anybody else eat so many blueberries while picking that you automatically pay a little extra to make up for what landed in your mouth?
We do.
Blueberries are great. But blueberries straight off the bush are awesome!
Once we have them all picked, we take them home and wash them. Usually I leave a bowl on the table for fresh eating, but air-dry the rest and freeze on cookie sheets before putting in freezer bags.
It’s a funny thing to watch that bowl. We all give in to human nature and grab the biggest, juiciest berries we can! That leaves the tarter, smaller ones at the bottom of the bowl – which nobody wants to eat.
Until Mom turns them into one exceptional dessert.
This dessert takes only two ingredients. It’s that simple.
You will need all your leftover, tart blueberries from the bottom of the bowl – although I usually add in enough bigger ones to round out the flavor and provide enough to feed eight people.
Then you drizzle on several spoonfuls of sweetened condensed milk.
This is delicious, ladies! Just stir it up and let it work its magic on your family’s tastebuds.
And if you really needed a printable recipe for this . . . well, let’s just say that maybe we all need to go back to home ec class!
