I don’t know about you all, but we are extremely thankful for the spring weather here in Idaho! For the month of May it has ranged from 40 to almost 80 degrees – and that’s just the high. Lows are anywhere from 25 to 45, although hopefully we are in the 45 and up range to stay for the summer now. I’m sure praying so because I just planted all my flowers last weekend! Although I did have a dream last night that it snowed on top of them. Today it’s been rainy, cloudy, windy, and sunny – and it’s not even 2:00pm yet! That is May for you.
Lowell has been going to his physical therapist in Sandpoint for a month now. He goes every other week and she has given him stability exercises to do in between. Last Thursday he was in a hurry to get out the door for his appointment and nothing was going right. It was one of those mornings where “the hurrier you go, the behinder you get”! As he left, I breathed a prayer that maybe, just maybe God could give Lowell a good report at physical therapy to set his day aright. And, wouldn’t you know, he received the best news yet! The therapist said he has movement in all directions from his ankle! It’s been a few days over a year since the accident, and when you don’t see huge improvements, it’s easy to get discouraged. So we were so very thankful to the Lord for answering that prayer and showing us that there is improvement ~ it’s just very, very slow.
As for the rest of us, we’re doing well. Although we have a few with the sniffles and coughs, we can’t complain. We’re just grateful to the Lord for seeing us through this past year and hope to please Him in the coming year. As I mentioned earlier, it’s been a little over a year since the accident. May 10 was Mother’s Day this year and also the anniversary of the accident. We woke up that morning and I asked Derek what today was. “It’s Mother’s Day!” he said. “Yes, but what else is it?” I asked him. He thought for moment, but couldn’t come up with anything. So I told him it had been a whole year since Daddy wrecked his motorcycle. “Well what are we gonna do about that?!!” he exclaimed. I said, “We’re going to thank Jesus that we have our Daddy alive and with us today!”
The others are all just as ornery as ever. Logan is extremely fascinated with the most grotesque things. He and the dog fight over who gets the dead mouse or dead bird! Since Logan is more than happy to oblige me in picking up dead things, I tell him to throw it in the woods. Problem is, the dog goes and gets it back out of the woods and brings it up on the porch! Logan can’t figure out why Stormy (our dog) keeps bringing his dead items back up. Although Logan isn’t the only one who likes mice. Terrel was supposed to be getting in the van so we could leave one morning and I couldn’t find him. So I went looking for him around the house outside. He came to me and said, “Mom, guess what I’ve got in my pocket?” I was expecting a pretty rock or something non-fleshy and he pulled out a dead mouse and stood there with the cheekiest grin on his face. I’m afraid my boys have figured out this spring how much Mom hates mice, snakes, and worms because they love to hold one up close to my face just to see a reaction! Come to think of it . . . that sounds very much like their papa! If I could figure out how to turn my reactor off, I’d save myself alot of heart trouble. But then the boys (big and little) in my life sure wouldn’t have any fun!!
You’ve all heard the stories before I began pottytraining Megan, well now I’ve got one for you about Logan. It is definitely getting close to the time when I need to begin sitting him on a toilet. The other day I smelled a raunchy smell and told Logan he stinks and that I needed to change him. He says, “No, Mom, I reek!!!” That was the sordid truth alright.
Well, I need to shut this off. But before I do, I want you all to know that we are going to be back in Indiana this summer for a couple weeks!! Dad offered to help get us out there if we would say yes, so of course we said yes. Matt and Becky will also be there from CA, so we are going to have a camping weekend and I am so, so, so, so looking forward to it! (Can you tell I’m excited?) That is one of the things I have missed the most since moving out here is my family’s summer camping weekend . . . as well as going for ice cream every other night at Dad Graber’s! So now we will get to do both! We will be out there for Father’s Day weekend and would like to stay until after the next weekend when Bethany has their ordination.
We love you all!
