I usually try not to complain….especially about the weather since God holds that in His hand. But maybe, just maybe He’ll take a small suggestion from this mountainwife who is about to lose her cookies and will let the sun peek through for possibly one day! We have had rain almost every day for the past 2 weeks. Not constant rain, but cloudy and showers. It has been unusually cool, too. But it’s looking up..tomorrow is supposed to be 74!! We’ll have to do something to celebrate – like weed the garden. My gardens are up, although my corn is a bit yellow from all the water. I’m hoping some sun this week will help it out.
The children have been spending their time outdoors when possible, otherwise they are inside climbing the walls. Today they were up at 6:20….I could tell by the thundering upstairs. They were all excited since today is THE day. The day Derek’s BB gun could possibly get here! This has been a constant topic of conversation for the past week, ever since the thing got ordered. The boys have both been doing extra jobs to earn money. Derek has been working towards a BB gun, and Terrel towards a remote control car. These two items have been prayed for very faithfully for several months and worked for just as hard. They are both due to arrive via UPS or FEDEX anyday now. And Mama can’t wait until they are here so she can get some peace! They don’t seem to realize that I am not God who knows exactly when their long-awaited item might arrive. Although I could very definitely tell them it would not arrive on Sunday. So I may or may not be alive by the next time you expect an email since I very well could have been run over by a “very fast remote control car that jumps high” or may well be casting a polka dot shadow by a bb gun shooting spree gone awry.
As for the rest of the crew, they are well, alive, fat, fit, healthy, and ornery. There are only a few of those adjectives I will claim as mine…alive and well will suffice. All the kiddos are healthy, Wyatt is fat, and Lowell is ornery. Wyatt decided when he was four months old on May 21, that he would have a growth spurt. Problem is, Mama could not keep up with the spurt and he got hopping mad. So he is on some solids and is having a grand ol’ time! I knew this boy was born ready for ham and eggs….he’d eat it if I would give it to him. He’s also got a temper that rivals that of his brother Terrel’s at this age. If his bottle is not here within 2 seconds, he wastes no time in letting you know. Once he has it, he attacks the thing with a vengeance, gulping as much air as milk…and then proceeds to belch like a full-grown man. I’m trying not to cry over the fact that this one is not going to stay a baby long at all. He would like to be one step ahead of where he is at the moment…..in fact, he has already started rolling from his back to his tummy. I’m thinking he will be crawling here before I know it. He is just as fat as ever….in fact, I have a hard time scrubbing the sweet potatoes out of his double chin. Yesterday we weighed him and he is now up to 18 pounds! For those of you who remember how fat Megan was as a baby, he is just a few ounces behind her. But he is more muscle than she was and has a ferocious appetite. She ate like the dainty, prissy girlie that she was….he will attack anything near his mouth as though he’s been starved up till now. They are all so different! I figured when he was born that he would be just like the other four little Grabers, but I was wrong. God has made each and everyone completely unique!! I’m amazed at how He does that…..
Onto something besides baby talk……..Lowell is working today! He has not had much work for the past few weeks, but they have work for a few days now. It’s humbling how God provides – never early, never late. I’ll also have to boast a bit on what my sweet husband did for me. All you ladies will understand. We were planting our garden down in the valley at Charles Schrock’s house and saw he had yanked out his picket fence and threw it behind his cabinet shop. We asked him what he was going to do with it and he couldn’t make himself throw it away, so he gave it to us!! Lowell put it up half way around my garden here at the house – there wasn’t enough to go all the way around. It isn’t painted, just looks rustic. But I LOVE it!! I told Lowell my heart goes pitter-patter every time I look at it! Maybe I’ll attach a picture to show you all…in fact, the sun is peeking a bit so I’d better run.
Love to you all and may our precious Lord bless your day as you live for Him!
