As the whole world watched, America once again went through another presidential election. With sad and disappointing results. And we all want someone to blame for the way our country is going.
“You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its savor, how shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:13-14
Had she not decided her ways were too closed-minded for the masses, the masses might even now have been able to see the true light. Had she not given into the temptation to look like the world, she might still be the salt that America so desperately needs.
If only she had stood strong against the wiles of the devil in appealing to her carnal nature, we might even now have fewer lost souls in hell. Had the Church instead held true to the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we might have avoided calamity.
Without the Church as the light of the world, the salt of the earth, and the city on the hill – there is no dividing line between right and wrong.
The world will always be carnal, sinful, and full of temptation. The Church as Christ intended it, is to be pure, holy, and set apart.
But she has fallen. And we are now reaping the consequences of her fall.
How many lost souls will God hold her accountable for on the Judgement Day? Souls that could have been saved had she been able to point the true way to the cross. Souls that cry out now because she deceived them with her ungodly teachings clothed in “christian” robes.
Yes, she has fallen. But there’s still time to repent.
Will she take the challenge laid before her to rise up out of her ashes of sin, shake off the carnal dust from her robes, and be the true Church once again?
Will she return to the God who formed her and hold fast once again to the teachings of His inerrant Word?
At first, I viewed this past election with fear and apprehension. It’s natural for us to feel fear since we don’t know what the future holds for us, our children, and our grandchildren.
But do we truly realize the awesome opportunity that God has given to us? This may be the time where God begins the dividing of the wheat from the tares, the sheep from the goats.
Every Christian now has an opportunity to let their light shine in the darkest time of America. The world needs you. The world needs me.
God needs those in America who are willing to take a stand on the truth of His Word. He can’t use fence-riders.
It is my choice. And it is yours.
What will it be?
