My firstborn will celebrate his 10th birthday today. His birthday isn’t until Sunday, but we are throwing a party for him with some of his school buddies this afternoon. I haven’t decided yet how I’m going to behave. A part of me wants to cry that ten whole years have passed since I first kissed that newborn cheek.
But what ten year old wants a blubbering mama at his birthday party, especially in front of all his friends. So I suppose I must behave.
In the meantime, I will try to create a birthday cake he can be proud of. His request was a football cake. Which doesn’t look too hard except for the frosting. I was told it must not be pink or purple frosting as those are most definitely off-limit colors to the males around here. But I haven’t figured out yet how to make brown frosting! I need some ideas folks. What colors must I mix in order to come with football brown frosting? Or maybe it’s not even possible.
By the way, I changed it so that anybody can comment, whether anonymously or not. I didn’t realize blogger had that setting. Sorry this is so short today….gotta run.
EDIT: I should mention that I don’t want to use chocolate frosting since it wouldn’t go with the cake flavor.

Well we ended up with a blue football. 🙂 He is happy, so that’s all that matters!

Way late-maybe Terrel will want a football cake next year….red, blue and yellow mixed together are supposed to make brown.
