Behold my winter paradise.
At least – I am hoping that is what it will be!
This summer, we had the greenhouse full of tomato plants in the ground. But for winter, I want to use it for starting flowers and plants from seed.
So we yanked out all the tomato plants, pulled up all the newspaper, and went shopping for some black plastic to put down on the floor of the greenhouse. We ended up with some sort of black fabric for weeds.
The two little guys were my awesome helpers . . . as you can see from the picture. However, I had to keep shooing them out as I was trying to lay the black fabric stuff down.
We had so much fun!
Once the ground was covered, we began filling up our little paradise.
Several of the shelves from the basement were drug up the stairs and out to the greenhouse.
Table, potting soil, watering can.
Garden tools and fertilizer.
Used planting pots.
I was amazed at how many I had accumulated in my dreams for a greenhouse someday.
It pays to dream a little.
I warned my family that should I ever go missing for several hours this winter . . . to look for me in the greenhouse.
Or call my cell.
I promised to take my handy phone for any Graber emergencies requiring the Mama of the Shoe.
I’ve never done this before, so I’ll probably flub up several plants . . . but at least I will have a ton of fun in the flubbing.
I will try to post pictures of our little greenhouse this winter!

A couple suggestions: mice love small plants so keep some poison nearby for them BEFORE the seed is planted. And, I suggest you wash the used containers to rid it of any possible contamination of any harmful organisms that could kill your plants or make them sick. Have fun!
