My children were forewarned that this Sunday was coming. They know Mama delights in watching her lilac bush begin to bud and bloom . . . because it means the annual pictures with lavender lilacs.
So we dug out the vests that don’t quite match the pants and are getting small on bigger people, and they smiled to please their mama.
I take it from the expressions that not all of them were impressed with the idea.
Or maybe it’s just the ornery part coming through the vests . . .
These are my Idaho natives. Yep. Every last one of these young men were born in a little house in the mountains of Idaho.
However, I don’t think that made them any more or less ornery than their Indiana native siblings . . . .
The apples of my eye!
If you scrolled no further, you could almost think they never wrestled all over my living room, threw ping pong balls in my kitchen, or set up a mini golf course in my house.
Almost.
I’m not sure I want to know what he’s finding in that ear.
I absolutely love this stage in life. It is honestly never dull when they are all at home! I love the fun, the talks, the questions, the teasing, the laughter, and the companionship. In the midst of countless diapers years ago, someone should have told me it would be a distant memory. And perhaps they did, but it’s hard to know it and believe until you are in the thick of it!
I sometimes can’t believe these were the two who used to beg for tape numbers stuck onto their shirts, so they could tumble around in my living room playing football . . . over 12 years ago.
When did I blink?
Truth be told, they still tumble around in my living room.
My Indiana natives! These were the ones the grandparents got to love on the most . . . since we lived only a few miles away then. Tractor rides, homemade ice cream, and bbq’s with family – those days in Indiana were special.
My young lady. She is taller than me already!
July will be our 19th wedding anniversary. And I love this guy more today than ever!
He’s my best friend and confidante. He holds me when I cry, encourages me when I’m down, and listens when I need to talk. Marriage hasn’t always been easy, but it is getting easier the more I understand how God is using my husband in ways to change me.
This whole household keeps me loved and laughing.
It’s how I like it.
Have a blessed week!

What a beautiful family. The boys are so tall and your daughter , so pretty. I remember pictures of Dallas at about two years old. It seems like a few months ago. 🙂

You are so blessed … and your life such a blessing to read about. How I relate to your love for your family and to how much you enjoy your children at these ages and stages they are all in! I so remember. Mine are all grown now … when did we blink? 🙂 I also love my husband more than ever now. I so appreciate how you write, including the more serious posts on doctrine, which have been helpful to me. Thank you, Kendra! Love and blessings to you from PA!
