Perhaps it is now time to dust off this blog and bring some life to it once again. Our lives have seemed to take on a new normal since January and so much has happened in between that it is hard to believe it’s been five months.
So here are a few pictures that highlight some of the happenings in our lives this past spring.
To begin with, our church hosted a Shenandoah Mobile Music Camp. We were a part of the committee to get things like lodging, pencils, food, and more food around for this group. In return, we were privileged to be a part of the chorus under Lloyd Kauffman. It was definitely a highlight of the winter!
Graduation of 2019
My first baby graduated.
Wait . . . didn’t I just wrap up the toddler years with this young man? Wasn’t it just yesterday that I helped this guy get on his little bike with awesome training wheels? Could it have really been years ago that he and I took courage and conquered the boys camp swing together?
“Oh Lord. Where has time gone and how have I used it for You?”
Derek has indeed graduated from high school. He was also privileged to be valedictorian, and had to give a speech. Never mind the fact that Mama was more nervous about that speech than he was. I am going to have to be more intentional about the “learning to let go” thing that goes along with my children growing up. No more butterflies in my stomach when I am the one sitting on the bench . . . Besides, he did a fine job and I love the young man he has grown up to be!
Other things . . . like puppies
Meet our newest baby. She is Charlotte, a Coton de Tulear. The children put some of their savings money together and purchased a couple puppies for the purpose of breeding and selling litters. We had to run down to the airport to pick up these cuties.
We also have a ornery-looking male puppy and we call him Wilbur. Wilbur and Charlotte. And they have become a part of the family.
Sigh. Sometimes Lowell and I wonder whatever got into us to allow dogs into our house. We must be getting old. But look at them . . . they are SO cute!
I have several goals to tackle this summer. And one of those is to teach Megan how to sew a dress. I am not sure what is wrong with me, but I would rather teach a person to read than to sew. Perhaps because I do not really enjoy sewing all that much. But we are getting along well, although a bit slowly; and we will keep at it until it is wearable!
Awesome things happen in the summer.
Like chocolate covered strawberries, singing silly songs on the porch swing, water fights with your brothers, and lunches in the hammock.
These are the things of childhood.
And let’s not forget fishing in the rivers of the breath-taking Northwest.
Then there is kindergarten
This was such a fun part of the past few months that it would take up too much time for this post. Teaching kindergarten. We will save that for a post in the near future . . .
Until then, have a great week!

Congratulations on your son’s graduation. I remember when my first daughter graduated. Now my last baby girl has graduated. I no longer have minors and it feels so weird!
I don’t always enjoy sewing. I guess it depends upon what I’m sewing and if I’m in the mood for sewing.
Have a blessed rest of your week.

That sewing tendency pretty much describes me, too!

Just read your book Teacups and cowboys. Interesting . I love when women encourage others to walk in victory. Even tho not claiming perfection. God in there to walk us they every situation. Mine is quiet different . Still needing to let go of my goals and plans and let God lead.

May God be with you as you let Him lead. It is worth it!!
