Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do . . . do it with thy might.
Ecclesiasties 9:10a
When you do a job well, there will come a satisfying end to it. This post is about a month late, but at least we are getting it up here! Lowell and the boys finished the spec home around the first week in September. On the first Saturday, our entire family spent around nine hours cleaning it from top to bottom – getting it ready for the new owners. And taking pictures, of course.
Plus, we treated ourselves to Subway for lunch. After all, you must keep the fuel coming so our engines could keep going for that many hours!
Making it sparkle
It took all of us. Little people. Big people. And everyone in between.
This was my favorite picture of all our cleaning endeavours. From Lowell planning this house out early this spring to sweating in the hot sun while shingling the roof – to cleaning that last floor on our hands and knees . . . this was a big team effort. Each person was needed this summer.
Maybe all those diapers we changed and sleepless nights over the past 18 years are paying off. God has been good to us.
The Final Product
Come with me as we walk through the house . . .
I am so glad for a husband who knows how to work hard and how to teach his boys work like this. Sometimes I need to step back and count my blessings – especially those that can be right in front of my nose.
This is beautiful home and he put much time and back breaking work into it. They all did. And I love them for it.
Now let’s go outside.
The landscapers were not quite finished with the sod in the front yard when we took these pictures. But it’s still beautiful!
All done. And what a good, satisfying feeling hard work gives.
From Beginning to End
God Himself blessed us with the opportunity to build this house and I am so glad my husband took that opportunity. It has been a blessing to work on something together and we will always remember this summer!
And as a quick update on our own house situation: we moved the last Friday in September to this beautiful home on a dead end road. It’s quiet, peaceful . . . and SO much space for us to spread out! It is owned by Ted and Kendra Byler who reside in Chile. And they have graciously allowed us to rent it for the winter. Our family is loving it – all three levels and all 5 bedrooms are occupied. As our oldest said, “He now has his own space.” And I have a lovely huge kitchen.
Jehovah jireh. The Lord will provide.
