A delicious cream cheese pudding topped with rich chocolate cookie crumbs.
Oreo Cookie Pudding
Honestly, this pudding has gone by many names and is a recipe from a sweet friend of mine (who gave me permission to share it with you). She called it “Kansas Dirt and Mud Cake” and usually put hers in a 9×13 pan. We like to call it dirt pudding and just sprinkle our crumbs over top right before we dig into a big bowl of creamy pudding.
This calls for simple ingredients, including your oreos. The last time I made this, I accidentally grabbed “birthday cake” flavored oreos. Who knew they even made such a thing?! But it fit the occasion since it was for our oldest son’s birthday – at his request.
Layered pudding desserts can be arranged so beautifully. I used a tea cup here, but you could use any tall glass or dish, or whatever you have sitting around.
For those who are gluten-free, you can skip the oreo crumbs and simply sprinkle with miniature chocolate chips and crushed peanuts. Delicious.
If you have plastic cups with lids on hand, these make an awesome dessert in school lunches! And if you are anything like me, you can use ideas about packing lunches this time of year. Just fill and sprinkle with cookie crumbs. And your children will love you at lunch time!
